Tyler Romeo:
I started TechLayers in the beginning of 2010 when I realized that instead of just ranting about the fluctuations of social media to my friends, I could post them online for anybody who cares to read about them. Blogging seemed like not only a good way to practice my writing, but a great medium to express my thoughts and share them with others. Hopefully everybody is enjoying the content.

I am currently a high school student at Staten Island Technical High School in, you guessed it, Staten Island, NY, which, for those who do not know, is a suburban borough within New York City. I am very big on computers, technology, and science. Pretty much anything that is not English or history I am passionate about (with the exception of biology, for some unknown reason). As for my views: I support both openness and privacy. Companies and organizations should work collaboratively to accept open standards and not lock in people to one brand, but this does not mean users should be forced to make their information open as well. In other words, open methods, closed data.

I'll admit I am no professional blogger, not even close. I have only been here for a few months, and I hope I'll be here for years to come. Where I'll go from here, who knows? Hopefully some place good. So for now, enjoy the posts and make sure to leave lots of comments. :)
